Language of Parliamentarians

This is with reference to a letter captioned 'Bonus to Karnataka' which appeared in these columns on 29th May issue.The writer has stated about poor comunication skills in Hindi and at times English of Tamil Nadu ministers which is unwarranted. There are plenty of MPs and even ministers from other states especially North and at times Karnataka who never even speak anything and if they start speakin, they will be finding it difficult to communicate properly even in Hindi leave alone English.

When compared to that, performance of Tamil Nadu MPs including ministers are far better which can be proved by the spell bounding performance of Chidambaram in his speeches especially budget presentation and the record of one Tamil Nadu MP who topped the list in debate participation in the last Parliament. It is quite amusing to note the tendency in our state to always quote take Tamil Nadu as reference for everything as if it is the only model state.
