Sahban spurs Modern CC to commanding victory

 Sahban Khan narrowly missed out on a century but his fine all-round performance set up Modern Cricket Club’s commanding 99-run victory over RBN Cricket Club, Mysuru in their knockout stage match of the KSCA Special Tournament for Zonal Champions and Top Six Teams of Group I, Division II, here.

Batting first, Modern CC rode on Sahban’s 99-run knock to post a strong total of 292 all out in 49.3 overs. For RBN CC, Koushik V was the most successful bowler, finishing with three for 28.

Needing close to six runs per over, RBN CC failed to meet the challenge and were bundled out for 193 in 33 overs. Nirmith Nithayanand, who struck an half-century (59), was the lone bright spot in RBN CC’s batting. While Muhafiz (3/41) was the pick of the bowlers for Modern CC, Sahban chipped in with two for 34.

In another match, Jupiter Cricketers Association defeated Jawahar Sports Club (2) by three wickets.

Jupiter put in a splendid bowling show to shoot Jawahar out for a paltry 160. Prateek Patil was wrecker-in-chief bagging four for 22 while finding an able ally in Kushal Gowda (2/28).

Jupiter then overhauled the total in 35.4 overs, with three wickets to spare.
