The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, in association with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will organise a four-day Panorama Film Festival from March 17.

The festival has been planned on the lines of the Indian Panorama Film Festival. Addressing a press conference in the City on Saturday, S V Rajendrasingh Babu, chairman of the Academy said, “Every time, the Panorama Festival happens in Goa. Other states such as Bengal, Maharashtra, Manipur and Assam also have their own. Karnataka will be among the first South Indian states to have such a festival.”

Members of the Academy said that while they would have the festival organised in Bengaluru to begin with, they had proposed similar ones in Shivamogga, Dharwad and Kalaburagi as well.

As many as 10 feature films and six short films including Daughters of Mother India (English and Hindi), Massan (Hindi), Radiopeethi (Tamil), Nanu Avalalla Avanu (Kannada), Pakaram (Bengali) and The Silence (Marathi) will be screened at the festival in Bengaluru.

Workshops and interactive sessions will see the participation of experts in the field. Master class on cinematography by A K Bir and workshop on documentary-making by Aruna Raje Patil are among the sessions that have been scheduled.

The festival will take place at Chamundeshwari Studios and will be inaugurated at 5 pm on March 17. There is no entry fee for the films or the workshops.
