Women always like to be party-ready whatever the occasion may be. With options in party wear, Indo-Western designs and daily wear, ‘Fulki’, a designer studio in Koramangala, aims to fulfill this  wish of every woman. The designs with their striking details are unique and perfect for any function.

This store, which is conceptualised and started by Monali Ranka, has its own pret and couture collection that includes saris, bridal ‘lehengas’, crop tops, Indo-Western ensembles, gowns and cocktail wear. It also houses labels like ‘Gaurav Gupta’, ‘Rimple and Harpreet Narula’, ‘Rithika Bhasin’, ‘Heena Kocchar’ and ‘Preeti S Kapoor’.

For Monali, designing is a passion which started in the 8th standard. It then developed into a full-fledged career. “The label ‘Fulki’ means spark in Sanskrit, and we are trying to ignite or bring a new dimension to the beauty of a woman through the brand,” she says. With a pret collection of over 500 outfits, the store is a stress-free space for women who like spontaneous shopping for occasions varying from a ‘sangeet’ to a ‘mehendi’ reception or a peppy party. As each design is unique and personalised according to the customers requirement, Monali vouches that the brand aims to experiment and push boundaries when it comes to style.

“I don’t like anything straight and simple when it comes to outfits. I strongly believe that every ensemble should make heads turn or leave the viewer confused for some time,” she adds.

Silhouettes that could vary from straight military lines to dramatic drapes, robes and sheer billowy jackets — Monali tries to give each garment a touch of luxe.

“My inspiration has always been nature, which could be from flowers or from a garden around. I also draw passion from historic art and ancient textiles and am fascinated by Islamic art, which can be seen in designs where I include ‘gota’, ‘kinari’, ‘salma’, ‘zari’ and ‘zardosi’ work,” she says. In her latest collection, which comprises of designs for summer, one can see colours from subtle pastel shades to bright hues.

The fabrics used are chanderi, chiffon and mal cotton. “We go light on silk during this season,” she adds.

With a target audience of women, between 20 and 45 years, the brand hopes to be a perfect addition to one’s wardrobe.

This studio is located at no 55, 5th Cross Road, 6th Block, Koramangala.
