Last Updated 23 March 2016, 19:24 IST

The Uber cab service is once again in the news for wrong reasons. A driver misbehaved with a woman passenger on Tuesday. A complaint was lodged with the Benglauru City police through Twitter.

The complaint was forwarded to Southeast Division police for action. The Madiwala police registered a case under IPC 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) against the driver and launched a manhunt to nab the suspect. The incident took place on Tuesday evening when the victim was moving in the car. The driver misbehaved with the woman passenger who did not dare to question him as she thought it was not safe. Upon reaching the destination, the driver was taken to a task. The driver refuted the allegation and said that he did not misbehave.

It’s actions of people like this driver that causes so much emotional, mental and psychological trauma and such folks should not go unpunished. Our mothers, daughters and sisters need to feel safe, and for that culprit driver needs to be immediately punished, the Twitter post said. The complainant did not approach but we traced the number based on the post and registered a case. We will arrest the driver soon, DCP (Southeast) Boralingaiah said.
