State government offices in 8 districts of North Karnataka will function from 8 am to 1.30 pm for the next two months.

The new timings are applicable in all the six districts — Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari — of the Kalaburagi division and two districts —  Vijayapura and Bagalkot — of the Belagavi division from April 1 to May 31, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Bangaluru, on Friday.

The order has been issued after obtaining the opinion from the regional commissioners of Kalaburagi division and Belagavi division and after considering the representations from the Karnataka State Government Employees Association. The timings have been changed from 10 am-5.30 pm to 8 am-1.30 pm in view of the severe summer conditions in the two months. The government employees have been asked to discharge their duties in the eight districts in the changed hours without any obstruction or lapse and without causing any inconvenience to people.

In the event of exigencies and if the deputy commissioner or the chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat orders to perform the government duties beyond the prescribed hours, the government employees should obey their orders. It has been stated that the order changing the office functioning hours has been issued with this condition.
