Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said his government will take an appropriate decision on providing internal reservation after going through the reports of Justice A J Sadashiva commission and socio-economic census.

After inaugurating the 109 the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivanram at Vidhana Soudha, he said the socio-economic census (also called caste census) report will be finalised within a month. The Cabinet will go through both the Sadashiva commission and caste census reports and take an appropriate decision, he assured as a group of people in the audience interrupted his speech, demanding internal reservation.

“We have no problem in implementing it (the Sadashiva commission report). So is the reason the government recently conducted the caste census. But I cannot take any decision on my own. The Cabinet is the right place to decide it,” he stated.

‘I am not Obama’
Siddaramaiah said in a lighter vain that Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya was among the richest ministers.

“I have put a lot of money in his pocket. I have asked him to spend the money for the welfare of the poor,” he added. When a section of people in audience retorted that the chief minister has control over everything, Siddaramaiah, further, said: “I am not Obama. We are in a democratic set-up. The council of ministers is the supreme body, and I am only its captain.” He conferred the Babu Jagjivanram award on dalit leader M Jayanna.
