'ZP utilised Rs 52 cr for developmental works'

Of which the district had received Rs 56.15 crore, informed Zilla Panchayath President Raju Poojary.

Speaking to the media here, he said Rs 51.90 crore have been utilised for various developmental projects undertaken in all over the district. Health, education and drinking water are the areas given additional priority in the current fiscal year and major sum of the allotments have been utilised for these purposes.

A sum of Rs 66.69 crore have been used for drinking water schemes under Rural Water Supply programme. As many as 24 construction works have been completed with the investment of Rs 55.30 crore released under ground water development programme.

About 35 high school and 32 primary school buildings have been repaired at a cost of Rs 30.40 lakh under the district zonal programme initiated by the Education department. Rs 15.20 lakh infrastructure has been provided for 53 schools, he added.

Briefing the health-oriented measures taken in the Naxal prone areas, Poojary said mobile health clinics comprising one doctor, two staff nurses, one pharmacist and a ‘D’ grade staff are introduced in Amasebailu, Madamakki, Machchattu, Sedimale, Hengavalli, Rattadi villages, he explained. Rs 15.20 lakh have been utilised for the repair works of the hospital buildings in the district. Primary health centres at Edu and Kandlur is completed introduced under the RIDF project. Rs 116.11 lakh out of Rs 328 Lakh has been employed for the construction works of the proposed community health centres at Kota and Baindoor, he said.

‘Release fund’

Poojary urged Home Minister and Education Minister to immediately release fund for the building infrastructure of the high school at Beejur and Belapu. He said about 30 Grade II posts were filled in Gram Panchayats coming under the ZP purview. As many as 23 secretary level workers have been promoted by appointing them to the Grade-1 posts, he added.

Vice President Sujatha Vasudev, Standing Committee Chairman Janardhan Thonse, member Madan Kumar, Chief Programme Officer Vijay Kumar and others were present.
