Actor Radhika Pandit has been busy doing a host of things. She recently turned singer with her  project, ‘Zoom’, opposite Ganesh. Although apprehensive at first, Radhika took the plunge and loved the experience.

She will also be seen in ‘Doddamane Huduga’ opposite Puneeth and will work with Yash again in ‘Santhu Straight Forward’. She is now on Twitter as well. Radhika talks to Nina C George about her projects.

Tell us about your role in ‘Zoom’.

I play Naina, who is the creative head of an advertising agency. She is bold and  outgoing and believes that there is no shortcut to success. She doesn’t mind putting in extra effort to achieve success the right way.

What was it like working with Ganesh?

This is my first film with Ganesh and it’s been amazing. You have to be really alert while working with him.  He has perfect timing when it comes to comedy. He’s a brilliant actor.

You have also sung for the first time in ‘Zoom’…

Yes, I have. I’ve never sung before and when the director wanted me to lend my voice, I was very apprehensive at first but it turned out to be a smooth sail. I had to listen to the track several times to perfect the lyrics and my pronunciation.

What was it like to act alongside the biggies in ‘Doddamane Huduga’?

There’s Ambareesh sir, Sumalatha and Bharathi in the film. This is my second project with Puneeth. It was  a learning experience because they shared stories of how hard they had worked at a time when there wasn’t so much technology. You learn so much from them, just by watching them.

You play an unusual role in ‘Doddamane Huduga’.

The director has given me a character with 2 extreme shades. One, traditional and the other, modern. I not only had to emote in a very distinct way but also had to learn to speak Kannada the way it is spoken in Kolar. It was a challenging experience.

You are back working with Yash…

It’s great to be working with co-stars you know very well. Yash and I will be playing unique roles in ‘Santhu Straight Forward’. I can’t slot the film in a particular genre but all I can say is that it will be an entertaining film.

You are a little choosy about your projects.

I am not choosy but I want to make a substantial contribution in bringing more respect for women. I’ve portrayed not just glamorous roles but also those that portray women in a strong light.
