Last Updated 10 April 2016, 19:26 IST

Even before releasing the list of candidates, Opposition parties including the DMK, Congress and Vijayakanth's DMDK-PWF will kick-start their respective election campaign from Monday.

It will be a high-tech campaign for DMK, which will be engaging automated state-of-the-art customised vehicles equipped with Internet and satellite TVs and have almost all the facilities offered in a luxury star hotel room.

DMK chief M Karunanidhi will be meeting the electorates from a wheelchair that will be raised into his “high-tech” campaign vehicle with a special fully automated hydraulic lift imported from Germany. Karunanidhi’s son M K Stalin, who already started door-to-door canvassing, will also be touring various districts.

In addition, the DMK-Congress combine has roped in film stars, television actors and also noted singers, who are expected to tour across the state.

The DMK camp is also expected to have star-studded team with film personalities such as Vagai Chandrasekhar, Imman Annachi, a popular television anchor, Kumari Muthu, Vasu Vikram and Poochi Murugan.

In the Congress, the party’s women wing head Khushboo undoubtedly will be the star campaigner backed by actor Nagma, who has also evinced interest in going around the state to meet the voters and address several rallies. Khushboo, who was canvassing for the DMK during 2011 Assembly elections, joined the Congress recently.

As Vijayakanth himself is a star actor, the DMDK chief would start his campaign by addressing a meeting at Gummidipoondi, a northern city suburb in Tiruvallur district.

Releasing the first phase of his campaign schedule, a DMDK release here on Sunday said Vijayakanth would address about 12 meetings during the campaign that would continue till April 17 covering more than 50 constituencies in the districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai.

The BJP is not too far behind compared to other parties. Veteran filmmaker Visu, who joined the BJP recently, said that he would tour the state and would spread the welfare measures to the region by the NDA government at the Centre. Noted music director Gangai Amaran along with noted star Gayathiri Raghuram is expected to pitch in for the poll campaign.
