Man suspects wife's fidelity, murders her

A man murdered his wife over a domestic issue in Kadugodi on Monday. The victim was identified as Geetha, 25. She was married to Shankar six years ago and the couple have three daughters. They stay at the vegetable market in Kadugodi, said the police.

Geetha was employed as a housekeeping staff and Shankar often suspected her fidelity, police said.

The couple quarelled over this frequently and after a quarell about 20 days ago, Geetha shifted to her parents’ house along with the children.

Shankar went to his in-laws’ place at noon on Monday, promised that he would not quarrel with his wife and brought them all back to his house. Minutes later, he started a fight with her and the couple had a heated argument, said the police.

He took one of the daughters to a hotel and got food parcelled for her.
After returning home, he went in and slit Geetha’s throat twice with a knife, while the daughter was sitting outside, police said.

Geetha raised an alarm and collapsed. Neighbours rushed to the house and took her to a nearby hospital, but Geetha succumbed to her injuries, said the police.
The police later detained Shankar.
