World Bank team reviews project

The team inspected the work on tanks in Brahmanarahalli, Siddepalli, Bodampalli, Varlakonda and Guntipalli and interacted with the members of Tank Development Committee. The team sought information on activities of the committee and verified the accounts.

The members said that rejuvenation of tanks became possible with the timely release of funds. The team members were informed of adopting Jalashree method, alternate and mixed cropping pattern, measures to recharge groundwater and other activities taken by the Committee. The team members expressed their satisfaction over the progress achieved.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of Jalasamvardhana Sangha, Punati Sridhar suggested that the income earned by committees should be used to set up a revolving fund. He also called for involving women in the activities of the Committee by offering them membership and starting Stree Shakti Sanghas.

Team Members Krishnamurthy, Ashish Bateja, Implementation Director of State Planning unit Prakash Chandra Rai, district planning coordinator Ashwathaiah and others were present.
