Extension of deadline sought


Addressing the protesters, general secretary of the district unit P R Suryanarayana expressed his displeasure about the inefficiency that has crept in to public distribution system. He urged the government to extend the deadline to submit applications seeking benefit of Sandhya Suraksha, old age pension, widow pension and allowance for physically-challenged persons. Caste, income, domicile, birth and death certificates must be issued within four days of the request, he demanded.

Treasurer of the Sangha, P R Naveen Kumar said that people have to run from pillar to post to obtain certificates. Nemmadi kiosk has failed to deliver goods. He demanded simplification of the procedure to issue certificates. He pointed out that public were sufferring owing to inordinate delay caused in issuing the certificates required to avaial benefits of various welfare schemes.

A memorandum was later submitted to the tahsildar. Prantha Raitha Sangha taluk unit president Jayarama Reddy, secretary N Veerappa Reddy, Vice President, R Venkatesh and others took part in the protest.
