The master of impeccable performances of Bollywood, Manoj Bajpayee, has time and again proven that he is one of the finest actors in the industry. With his daring choice of roles and zeal to perform beyond his limits, the actor has successfully bagged an award at the honourable Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2016.

The prominent award which is India’s highest award in cinema is going to honour the talented actor Manoj Bajpayee with ‘Best Actor (Critics’ Choice) Award’ for his outstanding performance in his last movie Aligarh.

The biopic which features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead portrays the heart touching story of 64-years-old gay professor Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was detained from his job due to his sexual orientation. The film was recognised by many prominent national and international film festivals and was marked as one of the best movies of Manoj Bajpayee.

This year, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2016 is going to take place on the occasion of the 147th Dadasaheb Phalke Jayanti at a suburban hotel in Mumbai.

Talking about it, Manoj Bajpayee says, “I am honoured that I am going to get the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, it is a wonderful feeling. I would like to dedicate this award to Siras for his immense struggle in his journey to prove to the world the true meaning of love. A special thanks to our director Hansal Mehta for his massive courage to showcase this story, to my co-star Rajkummar Rao and to the entire team of ‘Aligarh’. I am thankful to my audience and critics for their tremendous appreciation and love.”
