Rs 100 cr for upgrade of old industrial areas

In order to upgrade old industrial areas, especially in backward regions, the government has released Rs 100 crore as special grant to the Industries and Commerce department. A government order to this effect was issued on March 15.

As many as 32 works are proposed in the 32 existing industrial areas in backward regions like Kalaburagi, Bidar, Ballari, Raichur, Koppal, Gadag, Belagavi, Dharwad, Vijayapura, Bagalkot and Karwar.

The works proposed include upgradation of roads, drains, water and power supply, among others and tenders will be called for shortly, according to a press statement issued by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Industry-friendly infrastructure is being created to facilitate industrial activity and promote industrial production, employment generation and exports.

The KIADB has proposed the establishment and development of exclusive Women Entrepreneurs’ Park at Harohalli 3rd Phase, Ramanagaram, over an area of 350 acres, 50 acres in Mysuru and 100 acres in Ballari under the MSME-Cluster Development Programme.

Industrial clusters
The board also plans to develop industrial clusters such as SC/ST clusters at Mysuru (Hebbal Industrial Area), at Dharwad (Kelageri Industrial Area), printers’ clusters at Mysuru (Koorgalli Industrial Area), bangles’ clusters at Bidar (Basavakalyan Industrial Area) and auto complex at Shivamogga (Devakathikoppa Industrial Area).

The KIADB will allot land at minimum allotment rates in the Kadechur-Badiyal Industrial Area in Yadgir and Badanakuppe Kellamballi Industrial Area in Chamarajanagar at Rs 19.50 lakh and Rs 39.50 lakh per acre, respectively.

SC/ST entrepreneurs who wish to avail allotment in the KIADB industrial areas will be given a 40% rebate on the allotment rate.
