COMEDK med test off

Last Updated 06 May 2016, 20:46 IST

The COMEDK has cancelled its undergraduate entrance test for medicine scheduled for Sunday.

The move comes after the Supreme Court clarified on Friday that no private examination will be permitted for admissions to MBBS or BDS studies by any private college or association or any private/deemed university.

“After reading the order, we had to cancel the exam,” a COMEDK official told Deccan Herald.

This was the first time that COMEDK had organised the entrance exam on a national scale and intended to conduct it online.

Huge logistics were involved this time as it is being held in 156 cities and in 729 centers across the country.

Students who registered for the medical test will be intimated by e-mail about the cancellation, the official said.

A number of students who were allotted centres outside the state, however, have already made their way there. Rakshit, a student, said: “A few of my friends who have their centres in Tamil Nadu started for their destinations on Friday.”

The COMEDK test for engineering courses will go on as per schedule.
