Team from USA visits mango farms in Malur

A team from the USA visited mango orchards of farmer Vennkateshappa in Karadagurki village in Malur taluk recenlty and inspected the cultivation methods and the technology adopted for fruit fly control and farm sanitation.

This is the second visit by foreign delegates to the Malur processing unit. In the first week of May, members from the Australian High Commission had visited the processing unit and collected samples. The teams had also inspected the hot water treatment and the Gamma Irradiation facility for control of fruit fly and nut weevil.

Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited Chairperson Kamalaskhi Rajanna said this is for the first time that foreign delegates had shown interest to visit the processing units and farms, before placing orders. This will help India in the export market and increase farmers’ revenue.
