Parliamentary Secretary to Revenue Minister and MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said all pending files in revenue department should be cleared within six months.

Chairing a meeting and receiving grievances here on Wednesday, he said the applications which come under the purview of ‘Sakala’ (mandatory delivery of government services in a time-bound manner) have not been cleared. About 60 per cent of the pending applications come under department while 18 per cent come under transport department. “The problems in the districts vary. There are a lot of complaints with regard to revenue department in Kodagu district. Some files are pending for the last 10 years in the district. All one-year-old files should be cleared within six months,” he told the officials.

He said those who fail to clear the files will be identified and notices will be served to them. If they failed to provide satisfactory answers, they will be suspended, he warned.
Submitting a petition, Mahabhaleshwara Bhat of Biligeri said, “25 acres of land was divided among three persons in 1993 and it was registered. In spite of it, the land khata is not transferred to the respective persons.”

He said Land Reforms Act has not been implemented effectively in the district.
Reacting to it, Madhwaraj directed Assistant Commissioner Dr Nanjundaswamy and Tahsildar Kunhamma to come to the DC’s office with complete details on the file on Thursday. He said he has received a lot of complaints about Madikeri Tahsildar office. He said he will visit the office and verify the files at 3 pm on Thursday.

The residents of Hathooru, Yadavanalu who had lost land for Harangi reservoir, also submitted a petition on the occasion.

Files missing

Subramani of Arapattu village in Madikeri said he had submitted an application to change the khata several years ago. However, the khata has not been changed so far. When asked, the tahsildar said the file is missing. Reacting to it, Madhwaraj directed the DC to file an FIR on the missing file.
