Permanent irrigation project in 5 years, if voted to power: HDK

In a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy accused that the only achievement of the government was that of ‘looting’ public money in the name of government projects.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme here on Sunday, Kumaraswamy accused that the elected representatives had failed to respond to the problems of the people in the State.

“The public are denied of government facilities because of wide-spread corruption in the government departments.

A dalit couple who took part in the ‘Janata Darshana’ programme at chief minister’s house on May 17 was physically tortured by the police. The chief minister does not even have the minimum concern to listen to people’s woes,” he alleged.

Kumaraswamy held minister Shivaraj Tangadagi responsible for the large-scale irregularities reported in the department of Small Irrigation, accusing that the minister had suspended 21 officials to hush up the scam. “Also irregularities in the purchase of medicines has been reported. The elected representatives of this government are only looting public money and misleading people,” he alleged.

“The Centre like the state government has failed to fulfill the promises they had given to the people,” he charged terming the drought tour by BJP leaders a political gimmick. I have distributed compensation for farmers for the families of the farmers who committed suicide out of my own pocket. The BJP and the Congress leaders are conducting drought tours.

But how far has the tour become successful in providing compensation for farmers?, he questioned.

He meanwhile expressed confidence that the people who were ‘fed up’ with the national parties would surely support regional parties in the next elections.

He said that the permanent irrigation project will be implemented in 5 years, if the party was voted to power in all the 11 constituencies of the undivided Kolar in the next assembly elections.

Former minister K P Bachche Gowda, JD(S) district unit president K V Nagaraj, general secretary M Anjanappa, Kenchappa Gowda of Vokkaliga Sangha and others were present.
