Dadri lynching: Forensic lab report says it was 'beef'

A forensic laboratory from Uttar Pradesh has said the pieces of meat recovered from the house of a Muslim man, lynched by a mob over rumours of cooking beef in Dadri, were “beef”. 

The incident which occurred nine months ago at Bisada village in Dadri had triggered nation-wide outrage.

According to sources, the forensic lab, which is based at Mathura in the state, in its report said that the meat was from “cow or its progeny”. Incidentally, an earlier report prepared by another lab in the state had said that it was mutton.

Sources said the police had submitted the report to the district court in Noida, where the case is currently pending. A lawyer, representing some of the accused in the lynching, claimed to be in possession of the report.

The parents of one of the accused Vishal demanded a CBI probe into the matter following the revelation. “Only a CBI probe can bring the truth to the light,: Vishal’s father said in Noida on Tuesday.

A mob at Bisada village had lynched Mohammed Ikhlaq and seriously wounded his son Danish after rumours that beef was being cooked at their home in the village in September last year.

The killing had triggered a nation wide outrage and the Akhilesh government had drawn flak even from international organisations.
