Millionaires in Council, RS elections

 Though the JD(S) leadership has been claiming that it doesn’t indulge in the ‘suitcase’ culture while fielding candidates, it has emerged that both its candidates are the richest among other candidates in fray.

While the party’s candidate B M Farook has emerged as the richest Rajya Sabha candidate from the state, its Legislative Council candidates, S M Venkatpathi too is a multi crorepathi.
As per the details of the assets and liabilities of candidates posted on the Legislative Assembly website, Venkatpathi has declared that his total assets is valued at around Rs 140.98 crore. The 62-year-old educationist has movable assets worth Rs 21.82 crore, while his wife owns movable assets worth Rs one crore. The total value of his immovable assets is around Rs 106 crore, while his wife’s immovable assets are worth around Rs 9.51 crore.

The JD(S) candidate has declared liabilities to the tune of Rs 24.66 crore.
While Venkatpathi is the second candidate, K V Narayanswamy is the party’s first candidate in the Council polls. Narayanswamy, 72 years, is worth around Rs 45 crore. BJP candidates V Somanna and Lehar Singh Soraye too are crorepathis.

While Sommana’s total assets are valued at around Rs 24 crore, Lehar Singh’s total assets are valued at around Rs 52 crore.
