Cops hunt for footpath rider

The Koramangala police have intensified their search for a man who had assaulted a software professional for capturing him riding his two-wheeler on a pavement on his mobile camera in Koramangala on Monday morning.

The police registered cases under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage) based on a complaint filed by the victim Ankit Chowdhary. The police inspector said they cops were trying to ascertain the identity of the man based on his vehicle registration number and he would be nabbed shortly.

The incident took place around 10.40 am on Monday when Chowdhary spotted a man riding his vehicle on the pavement. He started recording a video as the suspect stopped the two-wheeler and approached him. The man tried to destroy Chowdhary’s mobile and assaulted him with his helmet. Chowdhary posted the video on Facebook and it went viral. As it was case of assault, the traffic police directed him to approach the Koramangala police and lodge a complaint. The police have generated a non-cognizable offence report.
