Decomposed body found in drain

The decomposed body of an unidentified man was found floating in a stormwater drain near Nayandahalli Junction near Byatarayanapura on Sunday afternoon.

According to the police, some passersby noticed a body floating in the drain and alerted the police control room personnel who informed the matter to the Byatarayanapura police. They rushed to the spot and retrieved the body with the help of a few locals.

It was found in a completely decomposed condition. The  police said the victim, aged around 35 to 45 years, had no clothes on him.

It is suspected that the body might have been dumped in the drain. The assailants might have killed him elsewhere or he might have fallen into the drain accidentally, the police added.

Also, a missing person complaints filed in the neighbouring police stations are being looked into. The body was sent for postmortem and the report is awaited to ascertain if there are any injuries, the police said.

Vehicular movement was affected as several people gathered on the Nayandahalli flyover to see the body. The police had to clear the crowd to ensure free flow of traffic.  A case has been registered in the Byatarayanapura police station.
