Actor Radhika Pandit is always working on at least 2 projects at a time, notwithstanding the fact that she may have to slip into contrasting characters in every project. In ‘Zoom’, which is scheduled for a July release, Radhika plays a modern, corporate woman who heads an advertising agency. She has also had a complete makeover for this movie.

In ‘Doddamane Huduga’, she has 2 shades to her role and says that she loved the act of balancing both.

Radhika is now shooting for ‘Santu Straight Forward’ where she has experimented with hair colour and looks nothing like what she has in any of her previous projects. In an interview with Nina C George, she talks about why she’s choosy about her projects.

What impressed you about ‘Zoom’?
I play the role of Naina, who is the creative head of an advertising agency. The project has comedy, action and romance in equal measures. I chose the script because this is the first time that I am working in a comedy film and the experience of working with Ganesh has been a very rewarding one. His comic timing is brilliant. The project also has senior actors like Kashinath and Sadhu Kokila
essaying prominent characters.

What’s your character like in ‘Zoom’?
My role reflects the thoughts and aspirations of a modern woman. I play a woman who is bold, strong and believes that there’s no shortcut to success. She’s a straightforward and a no-nonsense person who doesn’t mind working hard to achieve her goal. The role is similar to how I am in real life. I’ve come into the film industry on my own with no godfather to guide me.

How has it been working in ‘Doddamane Huduga’?
‘Doddamane Huduga’ is directed by Suri and what I like most about Suri sir is that he lays a lot of emphasis on the smallest of details in the film. For him, every change in expression matters a great deal. The project also has Ambareesh sir, Sumalatha and Bharathi. In addition to spending a lot of time with them, I’ve also learnt a lot just by watching them go about their work.

Are Yash and you working together again?
Yes. Yash and I will be playing unique roles in ‘Santhu Straight Forward’ which is very different in terms of content and the way it has been conceptualised. It is nothing like what Yash and I have worked together in earlier, be it ‘Mr and Mrs Ramachari’, ‘Moggina Manasu’ and ‘Drama’. I can’t give away too many details about the project but I am sure it will be a thorough entertainer.

We haven’t seen you work on any offbeat subjects. Why?
I would love to work on an offbeat subject but I haven’t come across the right script so far. More than anything else, I give priority to the script and that’s why I believe the script is always the hero. I’ve portrayed not just glamorous roles but also those that have given me a chance to explore different facets of my personality.

How do you manage to stay fit?
I don’t get to work out as much as I would have liked to but I make sure that I eat healthy and watch my portions. I walk to places that are closeby and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
