<p>A 33-year-old man was found dead in a pond on the premises of the Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) near KR Puram on Thursday noon.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased is identified as Umashankar, a native of Ballari. He lived with his wife and worked for a well-known software company.<br /><br />On Wednesday afternoon, a few passersby found a hand popping out of the water. They also noticed a helmet floating nearby. They informed the KR Puram police who came to the spot and fished out the body. A missing complaint had been filed at the police station on May 21, that Umashankar had gone missing. Family members identified Umashankar’s body, said the police.<br /><br />“We later found his bike inside the water. A colleague of Umashankar’s said that on May 20, they had celebrated a friend’s birthday in Mahadevapura. Umashankar had consumed liquor and was not in a position to ride the bike. They asked him to take a cab home, but he refused and left on his bike. As he reached the pond, he lost control over the vehicle and fell into it. He was not in a condition to swim and drowned. There was no proper fencing around the pond. The body was sent for post-mortem,” police said. A case has been registered at the KR Puram police station.<br /></p>
