Last Updated 31 May 2009, 16:59 IST

Addressing the gathering at a felicitation programme organised for Dalits by Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Krishnappa Stapita) on Sunday at Kaveri Kalashethra, Narayana said that lack of organisation and co-ordination is evident among the Dalit communities due to which others are conveniently applying the divide and rule policy on dalits.

“Without organisation, there can be no development in the community and the society at large. In this regard, four or five Dalit organisations must come together and work for the cause of Dalits,” he said. Talking about the Ambedkar Bhavan project, which has been lying idle for some time now, he said that the building construction must be completed soon.

Department of Education Co-ordinator H K Saroja Raju said that sincere effort is necessary along with planning to get success in any field and way to success is not easy. Only those who face the challenges and get over it become winners.

District Convener H L Diwakar presided over the programme. During the occasion 15 dalits were felicitated. People who had carved a niche for themselves on their own, through self employment  from the dalit community were felicitated.
