Villagers urge to solve wild elephant menace

Kolathnada Raghu Machaiah urged the forest department to initiate measures to chase wild elephants from the village. Two officials must be posted to the village to keep an eye on these elephants.

He said the village does not have electricity. This might be a cuase for the increasing wild elephant menace.

He said as the region gets 200 inches of rain every year. As a result, trench or solar fence can not be laid in the region.

GP Member Kanjithanda Gini Monnappa said 80 per cent of the paddy, banana grown in the region have been destroyed by the elephants. The growers are in distress.

Government should come forward to help the farmers.

Thithimathi Sub Division Assistant Forest Conservator Alexander assured to solve the menace at the earliest.
