Swaying to rhythm

Last Updated 30 June 2016, 19:10 IST

It’s hard to consider weekends as a time when I get to relax because unlike others, I really don’t get that time.

Weekends are usually the busiest for me as there are performances and travelling involved for work. It’s actually been a while since I’ve had a normal weekend like the rest of the world.

However, once in a while, I do enjoy the luxury of not having any work at all and getting to relax like everyone else.

Since I’m not a party animal, I like to spend time at home with my sisters and parents. My sisters and I usually hang out at home, watch a movie and play with our dog Frodo. When it’s time for dinner, all of us go out and try something new. Thai and Chinese are my favourite cuisines, so we usually have that for dinner.

There are times when we also have game nights at home. ‘Jenga’ and ‘Taboo’ are two of our preferred choices. If there’s any shopping to be done, I make sure that I send one of my sisters to take care of that.

It’s so much easier to just give my card and ask them to pick up something for me to wear — that way, we are all happy. It also strengthens our understanding and bond with each other.

When I don’t have any work, I also plan international trips and explore new places. The United States of America is one of my favourites, especially cities like Miami, Hawaii and Atlantic City.

During one of my previous visits, we went to a forest-like area where we relaxed and built a campfire.

It was one of my best experiences as it was a quiet environment, I was with the people I love and close to nature.

Since dance is a big part of my life, I like any activity that involves the same during my weekends. I also enjoy swimming, surfing, hiking and trekking whenever I get a chance. I spent my last weekend in Bengaluru as I had a show. As soon as I got off the plane, I was hit by this beautiful cold breeze. I immediately understood why my friends from this city tell me that Bengaluru is the best.

During the one hour break that I managed to get, I went out to ‘Brewsky’ and had a nice time there.  It would be nice if I could meet my close friends during my off days but our timings never match. I’m still in touch with all of them, thanks to technology.

A friend of mine surprised me when I came to Bengaluru too! The next three months are going to be quite hectic as I have a lot of shows coming up and ‘Dance Plus’ to take care of. But I hope to catch a break somewhere in between so that I can strike a balance.
My idea of a perfect weekend would actually be to travel out of Mumbai.  I love going to Lonavla and spending time at the resort there.

A little bit of yoga, sipping a hot cup of coffee and unwinding — that sounds like bliss. But due to my schedule, I get to do that only twice or thrice a year. Nevertheless, am happy in my space.”
