The government will upgrade 12 roads under the TenderSURE project as of now, sources in the Urban Development Department (UDD) said.

The roads include Church Street, Commercial Street, Brigade Road, Lavelle Road, Infantry Road and Queen’s Road.

Sources said the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had sent a proposal to develop 22 roads on par with St Mark’s Road and Cunningham Road but as of now, only 12 roads will be taken up. However, MG Road is not in the list of 12 roads, the sources added.

A senior official in the UDD said the state government has earmarked Rs 2,000 crore to develop TenderSURE roads in two years.

“The TenderSURE proposal has been sent to the Technical Cell of the UDD for opinion. Once the opinion comes, it will be submitted to the high power committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain for approval,” the sources added.

They opined that the commencement of the project may take at least three months. The design of the road is prepared by the Jana Urban Space, a sister organisation of the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy.
