NEC Tech India aims $90 million revenue

IT company NEC Technologies India is aiming a 66% growth in revenue to touch $90 million in three years, led by offshore support centres.

“We are expecting that our revenue will reach $90 million in three years driven by open source software stacks and offshore delivery business” NEC Technologies India (NTI) CEO and MD Anil Gupta said.

He added that NTI’s revenue was around $54 million in 2015-16, and most of it came from overseas clients.

“Business from India was around 15%. We expect by 2018 there will be more people looking for OSS solutions. Indian government has also announced its policy to procure OSS based products which will drive the business,” Gupta said.

The company is planning to double headcount from about 1,000 at present to 2,000 to support growth, he said.

NTI and its Japan-based parent NEC Corporation on Friday announced to jointly set up an Open Source Software centre in India to provide support for OSS used in various businesses in domestic market as well as to clients globally.

The OSS centre will be set up in Noida as a division of NTI. The centre will start with more than 50 engineers now and  the number will increase over 100 in 2018, he said.

The OSS Technology Centre aims to strengthen the organisational structure for supporting global enterprises in building systems based on OSS, to reinforce collaboration with international ISS vendors and to provide rapid technical support to users who construct systems operated globally using OSS, said Nobuhike Kishinoue, GM of Cloud Platform Division, NEC Corporation.
