Wellness startup Gomalon aims 1 lakh transactions in 2017

Bengaluru-based wellness startup Gomalon, which offers services like spa, salon, gym, yoga and ayurveda, aims at touching over one lakh transactions by 2017.

“Currently, we have over 6,000 registered customers, of which 42% are repeat customers. We are witnessing a 50% growth in transactions on a monthly basis,” Gomalon Founder Anil Kumar told Deccan Herald.

“Gomalon (feeling loved in Spanish) allows customers to book their wellness appointments online. Now with our mobile app, customers can do bookings for salons and spas at their fingertips. From offers to suggestions and beyond, the Gomalon app is designed to enhance salon and spa experiences. With mobile-exclusive deals, we let customers stay one step ahead with deals, alerts and view and manage bookings anytime, anywhere. With a vast data bank of vendors listed, we are successfully meeting the needs of our customers in the beauty and wellness industry,” Kumar added.

The services are currently available in 20 locations in Bengaluru, and can be accessed through its Android app. It plans to expand to five cities in the next 12 months, and aims to have presence in five countries with 50 cities in the next five years.

Gomalon embarked its journey in mid-2015, and has raised $200,000 from a few angel investors.

“Now that the technology and the business is ready to scale, we are looking at raising our pre-Series A round in the next 2-3 months. Recently, we raised our second round of undisclosed funding from a company which produces essential oils, natural food colours and spice extracts,” Kumar said.

Quoting a report, he said that the country’s beauty and wellness sector is said to be at Rs 1 lakh crore and it witnesses a growth of 15% year-on-year. Looking at the growth and opportunity, Gomalon had acquired spa and salon booking portal bookmyspa.in in November, last year.

In April 2016, it launched GoSpa, price starting at Rs 999 on demand spa booking service with real time slots. It enables vendors to turn-on and turn-off slots whenever required. The standardised services (with personalised shower kit and disposable toiletries), which can be paid through PayU, PayZapp, and MobiKwik.

Kumar further added, “For Gomalon, the biggest opportunity lies in standardising 80% of standalone beauty parlours and spas through its technology, helping maintain brand individuality and giving standardised products to work with our customers through Gomalon platform.”

On technology, Kumar said, “Technology is our main forte; we take pride to say that we have a technical team who are doing wonders for us. The quick turn around for problem resolving by the team is a great strength. We use many ITIL (information technology infrastructure library ) processes to ensure flaw-free operations. Our dedicated in-house tech team specialises in web and mobile development and designing. Our strength lies in our staff who belive in teamwork to resolve problems.”
