Notice issued over disqualification of JD(S) MLAs

Last Updated 14 July 2016, 19:34 IST

The JD(S) MLAs B B Ningaiah and C N Balakrishna who have sought the disqualification of eight of their party MLAs, have been summoned by Legislative Assembly Secretary to submit their arguments.

Assembly Secretary S Murthy has issued a notice to the two MLAs on July 12 asking them to appear before the enquiry authority on July 23 at 11.30 am, along with an advocate, if need be.

Memorandum submitted
The two MLAs had submitted a memorandum to the Speaker on June 20, seeking the disqualification of the MLAs from the Assembly.

They had contended that the MLAs had indulged in many anti-party activities, including the cross voting during the Rajya Sabha polls held last month.

The MLAs had voted in favour of the Congress candidate K C Ramamurthy and not to the JD(S) candidate B M Farooq, despite the party issuing a whip.

Action has been sought against B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Iqbal Ansari, Akhanda Srinivasmurthy, K Gopalaiah, Bheema Naik, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, N Cheluvarayaswamy and H C Balakrishna.
