Last Updated 31 May 2009, 18:01 IST

Addressing reporters on Sunday in Bangalore, Yatnal claimed that 40 BJP legislators and six MPs are in touch with him, and several meetings were held in the last three days.

“Along with Vikas Sankalp Utsav, efforts are on to pack off Yeddyurappa to his home. In the 2008 Assembly elections and in the recent LS elections, Yeddyurappa himself made efforts to defeat certain BJP candidates. Like Kalyan Singh of UP, Yeddyurappa  and his family is using the BJP for their personal benefit,” he alleged.

Yatnal, who was recently expelled for six years, said that there is a growing demand for a collective leadership in the party, and there is no dearth for able leaders.

H N Ananth Kumar, Jagadeesh Shettar, K S Eshwarappa, G Karunakara Reddy are all capable of leading the party. The party will be led by collective leadership in the days to come, he said.

Yatnal said that Yeddyurappa and his followers were troubling the Reddy brothers of Bellary. The Reddys are waiting for a change in the leadership. The chief minister has been harping on curbing corruption. If he is really sincere then his crusade should begin from his house and should contain the transfer business undertaken by his sons, daughters and his personal secretary Siddalinga Swamy.

He also said his expulsion was against the rules of the BJP. Party State President D V Sadananda Gowda has exceeded his authority by expelling him and added that he will be taking up the matter with the party high command.
