A resident of Guddeyangadi spoke about variation in two RTO surveys to measure the stretch between Karkala and Udupi bus stands.

Raising the issue at an RTA meeting, Prashanth Kumar said the initial measurement survey found the length between the two bus stands as 36.80 km. However, it is 44.07 km according to a recent survey, he claimed.

Kumar charged that the survey was taken up by the RTO and the PWD assistant executive engineer.

He said the jeep used to measure the length of the stretch is not good and it gives irregular measurement.

In-charge Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis directed RTO Surendrappa to conduct the survey again.

The joint survey would be taken up by the RTO in association with PWD executive engineer.

The RTO said the jeep used is regularly validated and is a standardised vehicle. The vehicle measurement is considered as appropriate and alternative arrangement would be made only if the court orders. All permits are given following the measurement by the same jee, he added.

Kumar also alleged that the length between Karkala to Guddeyangadi and Udupi to Guddeyangadi is similar (17 km). However, the bus fare for the route between Karkala to Guddeyangadi is Rs 22 whereas for the route between Udupi to Guddeyangadi is Rs 20.
Another resident Anil Chaitra said the road covering Hosangadi to Yedamogge via Siddapura is totally spoiled.

He said that it is a PWD road and the area is Maoist-prone. He appealed for the immediate repair of the stretch.

Forty-five subjects were taken at the meeting, including revision and variations of time. Two cases deferred last time were also taken up.
