Where luxury meets dining

After driving for more than an hour from south Delhi and covering around 40 km, we finally reached Hyatt Regency in sector 83, Gurgaon to review multicuisine restaurant Kitchen District for lunch.

The grey-coloured multistorey building is located on the Gurugram-Manesar Road on NH8, so majority of their visitors are those who travel through this road. Not many from the city drive down here to get that gourmet experience.

Nonetheless, we went inside and took the escalator to reach the restaurant on the second floor. The open restaurant is quite spacious and big enough to accommodate over 200 people. Also, the sunlight coming from their glass windows was enough to brighten the place, and there was no need for electrical lights.

With a vibrant ambience, Kitchen District has a sophisticated look with simple décor and furniture. The place has standalone live kitchens that offer cuisines like Asian, Japanese, Indian and Italian. So you can watch how the food is being cooked! Kitchen District also has a wide spread of desserts at one counter. It also offers buffet option for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chef Tanuj Bahuguna had curated a special menu for us. For appetiser, we were served ‘Tandoori Phalon ki Chaat with Melon Carpaccio’ and Kitchen District’s special ‘Tempora sushi’.

The chaat that comprised small pieces of apples, pineapple and other seasonal fruits and vegetables, tossed in mild tandoori sauce and served with few drops of dark chocolate sauce, vanilla mascarpone were the highlight of the lunch.
The sushi rolls were cooked to perfection. With every bite, the crunch of the crumbled bread outside could be felt. Topped with small pieces of mango and drops of maple syrup, the dish definitely gets thumbs up from us!

Looking for some cocktails, we asked the waiter for their drinks menu, but we were informed that the bar opens only after 4.30 pm. Disappointed, we settled down for a ‘Virgin Mojito’.

For main course, ‘Grilled Lamb Chops with Risotto Milanese’ was served. The thick, chessy risotto served with a large lamb chop and smooth gravy didn’t meet our expectation as the meat pieces failed to absorb the flavours.

However, the desert ‘Chocolate Pizza with Vanilla Mascarpone’ made our day. With a base made from pizza dough, it was loaded with chocolate and nuts. Loaded with sweetness, there was a little saltiness to the dish which came as a surprise. A must try.
