Security measures will be beefed up in all premier installations in the state to ensure no security breach on Independence Day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday.

Referring to the blast that occurred in Mysuru on August 1, Siddaramaiah said measures would be taken to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.

He said that he had convened a meeting of senior police officers and directed them to take all the necessary security measures at railway and bus stations, malls, markets, and court halls.

Similarities

He said that there were similarities among the blasts in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh (April 2015), Kollum, Kerala this June and the Mysuru blasts. Pressure cookers were used in all three instances and the handiwork of professionals could be seen in the incident.

Though no organisation had claimed responsibility for the blast, it seems like the persons involved in the blast wanted to instil fear, aside from establishing their existence, he said. The chief minister was briefed about the incident by DGP of Internal Security Division Neelamani Raju earlier in the day.
