In a rare occurrence, the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday postponed a minister’s reply during a debate on Thursday.
The incident occurred as Opposition DMK members stalled the proceedings over the remarks by a member from the treasury bench.
AIADMK MLA Muthiah, during his debate, remarked “there are 89 scarecrows” in the House, apparently referring to the total number of DMK members in the House.
Angered by the legislator’s statement, DMK MLAs wanted the speaker to expunge the remarks made by Muthiah.
