<div>On the occasion of the birth centenary of Pallavi Chandrappa, Pallavi Gana Sabha, in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, is organising a three-day music festival titled, ‘Pallavi Sangeethotsav’ on August 5, 6 and 7 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. <br /><br />The festival intends to provide the younger generation of artistes and musicians a platform to showcase their talent.<br /><br />The festival is dedicated to ‘Gaanakalaa Bhushana Laya Yogi’ Pallavi S Chandrappa, who was one of the legendary Carnatic musicians of the 19th century. <br /><br />It is slated to be one-of-a-kind with the best of musicians slated to perform. There will be performances by R K Padmanabhan, Mysore Nagaraj and Manjunath, Suma Sudhindra, Nithyasree Mahadevan, Abhishek Raghuram, Mysore Chandan Kumar, Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath, Priya Purushothaman (Hindustani) and Mandolin Aravind Bhargav.<br /><br />There will also be ‘Avadhana Pallavi’ demonstrations that will serve as a platform for students and music lovers to experience the power of ‘Raga’, ‘Tana’ and ‘Avadhana Pallavi’.<br /><br />A unique form of Carnatic music by Varada Raja and Hemanth Kumar, Padma Gurudutt and Dr Nanda Kumar will also be a part of the event. <br /><br />The other highlights include ‘Pallavi’ and ‘Taalavadhana Pallavi’ demonstrations. A biography of ‘Layayogi’ Pallavi S Chandrappa will be released on August 7. The book will present the musical journey of Pallavi S Chandrappa and his ‘Swara’ compositions for Purandara Dasa ‘Devaranamas’ and ‘Sri Basavanna Vachanas’.<br /><br />The book also includes a few ‘Pallavi’ and ‘Avadhana Pallavi’ compositions of his guru Tirupathi Pallavi Vidyala Narasimhalu Naidu and Pallavi S Chandrappa himself, which is a reference for all music students and lovers.<br /><br />This event is aimed at promoting and popularising the idea of retrieving the much-forgotten ‘Pallavi’ and ‘Avadhana Pallavi’ to the younger generation worldwide through live demonstrations.
