Five-year-old washed away in drain

The incident occurred at Jani Grama Layout on Lingarajpuram main road near Don Bosco Church, when five year old Abilash, a resident of Lingarajpuram was on his way home along with his mother. Abilash slipped and fell into an open drain, and was washed away.

Abilash’s mother raised an alarm when he slipped into the drain. However, the heavy rain and darkness made it difficult to rescue him. A search is still on for the body.

Drowns in well

A ten-year-old boy drowned in a well, in Bangalore on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh.

According to the police, Ganesh had gone to fetch water from the well. He lost balance, fell into it and died. The incident came to light when parents, who were looking for him, found his body in the well.

Car thief held

Yelahanka police have arrested a person in a vehicle theft case, and recovered six cars worth Rs 10 lakh from him.

The accused, Sheik Mohammed Rafeeq, a resident of Anekal, has been suspected in nearly ten cases of car thefts, registered in different police stations of the city.

Of the five cars that have been identified, four are from Yelahanka, while the fifth is from Yelahanka New Town.

Police suspect that Rafeeq was part of a network that sold stolen cars outside the State.
