Swimming State Senior Aquatic meet : Arvind, Saloni adjugded best swimmers of the meet

Swimmers from the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre reasserted their supremacy, emerging comfortable winners at the State Senior Aquatic Championships here at the Nettakallappa Aquatic Centre on Friday.

The club won the overall title with a grand total of 505 points, which included a haul of 36 gold, 24 silver and 24 bronze medals.

And it was no surprise when the two swimmers from BAC -- seasoned campaigner Arvind Mani and upcoming talent Saloni Dalal -- were adjudged the best swimmers at the meet. Arvind won the title for a performance that earned him 135 points along with two State records.

Saloni was the pick of the lot for her show, which included two State records, giving her 122 points.

On the records front, the final day of the meet was relatively quiet as just one new mark was set at the Nettakallappa pool.

Swimming the 50M backstroke, Arvind won the race in 27.23 seconds, 0.51 seconds better than the pervious best he set at the 2014 championship.  His club-mate Rakshit Shetty finished second in 27.84 seconds while Global Swim Centre’s N Srihari completed the podium in 27.87 seconds.
