Woman held for murdering husband, paramour at large

A 29-year-old labourer was killed by his wife, and her paramour, at their house at AGS Layout in Subramanyapura on August 11. The wife was arrested on Friday while her lover is still at large.

The police have identified the deceased as Yogendra Naik. His wife Manjula (22), a domestic help, and her lover Anji beat Naik to death with a wooden log. The duo then dumped the body on a vacant plot at AGS Layout.

The police have arrested Manjula and the hunt is on to arrest Anji. The victim and the suspects are natives of Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.

The police said, Naik and Manjula, who had married around five years ago, have two children including a six-month-old girl. They had moved to the city a few months ago in search of work and were residing at AGS Layout. Anji is working as a labourer in Puttaparthi.

On August 11, Anji came to the city and went to meet Manjula at her house. Naik, who returned home from work, found Anji at his house. They started arguing and in a fit of rage, Manjula and Anji hit Naik with a wooden log. Naik suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot, added the police.

Meanwhile, Naik’s relatives  approached Subramanyapura police and filed a missing complaint, mentioned the police.

On Friday, the passersby found the body and informed the police, who identified the body and informed Manjula. They found that Naik was killed after he was hit on his head.

They questioned Manjula, who confessed to have killed her husband along with Anji. Manjula and Anji were having an affair and they decided to get married by eloping. Anji had come to the city to meet Manjula and planned to elope with her but things went wrong when Naik found Anji at his house, said the police.
