The startup market in India is a booming one, thanks to young minds, who thrive to create something new and unique every second day. Proving this is the venture ‘Parentune.com’, a pro-parent community to help and support young parents help raise their children in an effective manner.

Nitin Pandey, the brain behind ‘Parentune.com’, started this in 2012. He used to work in an FMCG organisation and then with an education based organisation before starting this venture. Nitin recalls that during that time he used to interact with a lot of parents and since they are the prime focus he used to often keep discussions pertaining to academics. However, it was the parents who used to open up about other parenting challenges.

“One of the major challenges that they pointed out was about taking care of their child and doing what they want to do for their child on a day to day basis. When I looked around, there were 700 million parents in India and not even one player focussed on solving this issue. That is how I got to think about this idea and the impact a parent support mechanism can have and finally launched this venture,” says Nitin.

‘Parentune.com is a real-time community helpline for parents which cater to parents with insightful blogs, relevant advice, expert interaction and useful tips for parents to do more notch more for their child.

“This venture helps parents connect with like-minded parents, access useful applications, find relevant information validated by fellow parents and trusted experts. This venture is personalised for each parent and is available on desktop, mobile site and an app.” details Nitin.

There is an unparalleled engagement of nine to 10 minutes per session on the mobile app. With parents actively engaged right from pregnancy till being a parent to a 14-year-old, this venture targets parents of multiple demographic and psychographic parameters.

“In a span of three years, we have been successful in reaching out to not just parents in India but across the globe. In a larger vision this is to help 700 million parents, and if we study the present impact, we still have a long way to go and we are getting there,” says Nitin.

The major challenges for the venture are to keep a reach out to more and more parents and help them overcome their challenges and be relevant to each parent. And the next one, Nitin says, is to constantly be on the run to make this venture better and more approachable.

“Once a product is launched, the internal team tends to become complacent, but sometimes that can be a defeating feeling and can pull one down. So this is something that we keep hammering into each other’s mind that we don’t really have to be complacent in nature and keep thinking ahead in time,” says Nitin.
