'Officials should try to solve people's problems'

MLA Y S V Datta said the elected representatives should have concern for poor to take up people-friendly works.

Speaking at ‘Namma Bhoomi Namma Hakku’ (Our Land Our Right) convention organised by Bagair Hukum cultivators at Kalkere village in Kadur taluk on Sunday, he said that not even a single Bagair Hukum cultivator has received cultivation chit in the last 30 years. Even the MLAs have done efforts in this regard. The elected representatives should think beyond party barriers and should strive towards providing facilities to eligible people, he said.

Datta said the officials should try to solve the problems of people. Former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs took decisions for the betterment of people, considering all as equal. The politicians of today should follow his ideals, he remarked.

He directed Tarikere assistant commissioner Saroja and tahsildar M Bhagya to provide cultivation chits to the Bagair Hukum cultivators of Emmedoddi are.

As the land cultivated by the farmers of Surpur has been mentioned by the DC as lake, the tahsildar she had tried to clear the encroachment as per the directions of the DC. A writ petition was filed with the revenue department principal secretary and the revenue minister has ordered not to clear the encroachment.

Cultivation chits were handed over to some Bagair Hukum farmers on the occasion, symbolically.

Farmer woman Chowdamma presided over the programme. Bagair Hukum farmers Rama Naik, Shekharappa, Moodalagiriyappa and other farmers inaugurated by convention by offering puja to the plough.
