Last Updated 25 August 2016, 20:28 IST

In a bid to create awareness about the importance of car-pooling among public, two art sculptures were unveiled on Thursday at Phoenix Market City, Whitefield.

Crafted by Baroda-based artist Amarnath Sharma, the two art installations are named as ‘In-transit’ and ‘Make over’.

`In-transit’, measuring 30 feetx12 feet, has a vertical wall full of colourful cars moving in different directions stressing on the dangers of not adopting car-pooling. `Make over’, with the dimension of 2 feetx4 feet, dwells into the concept of traffic jam versus freedom. It shows cars falling from the top of the road and getting reduced to scrap.

Assistant Commissioner of Police-Traffic East, Sachin P Borpade said, “Traffic jams are a common scenario in Bengaluru and other metros. Car-pooling will benefit individuals as well as the community.”

“The public art installations are put up as a part of `Share your Ride, Free the Road’ initiative,” said Gajendra Singh Rathore, Phoenix Market City Centre Director.
