No SC relief for former KPSC chief

Last Updated 26 August 2016, 19:38 IST
The Supreme Court on Friday declined to quash proceedings initiated against Dr H N Krishna, a former chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), for alleged malpractices in the appointment of gazetted probationers in his tenure during 1998, 1999 and 2004.

A bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and Prafulla C Pant dismissed a special leave petition filed by Krishna against the March 17, 2016, ruling of the Karnataka High Court. The court saw no reason to interfere in the proceedings arisen out of the charge sheet submitted against the former KPSC chairman, who was represented by senior advocate H N Nagmohan Das.

Krishna contended that since the proceedings against some of the co-accused had been quashed, his petition for the same should also be allowed. The apex court rejected his petition and asked him to face the proceedings going on in the trial court.
