Railways to clear encroachments on its properties

The Railways will soon launch a drive to clear encroachments on its properties. 

Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda, who chaired a meeting to review the railway projects said, “Encroachment will be cleared without any consideration and compromise.’’

Briefing the decisions taken ar the meeting, he said it was decided to form a coordination committee to speed up around 29 pending railway projects.

It was also decided to permit the BBMP to asphalt and maintain roads that pass through railway properties. Beside this, the BBMP was also allowed to clear garbage piles on railway properties. 

Overbridges will be constructed at Hebbal, Devanahalli, and Malleswaram, Gowda added. The Minister said a special grant will be made to take up construction of underpasses and railway overbridges.
