That bag in the store window is something you’ve been eyeing for sometime but have lost all hopes of owning as the price tag hangs like a dagger. Even the dress you felt was somewhat affordable isn’t quite so and the attempt to possess an outfit from that brand is in vain. Certainly, there are many who want to own luxury brands but without really burning a huge hole in their pockets, given that the fascination fades away in a short span.

So what if one could obtain such things at half the price yet enjoy the pleasure of owning one’s favourite merchandise? That’s exactly what ‘DuaVivo’, a recently launched platform in the city, caters to. Here, one can buy and sell original pre-owned luxury goods at half the price through their website, app and store. With several brands, it caters to both men and women for bags, shoes, watches, pens, belts, neckpieces, sunglasses and more. “My mother loves shopping for luxury products. After a while, she would grow out of the charm and these items would be lying around idle at home, with no place to stock them up. After a while, she would grow out of the charm and these items would be lying around idle at home, with no place to stock them up. My father would try to convince her to invest in a piece of jewellery or property which would yield better returns in future. Regular discussions made me realise that this might be the case in many homes. My father and I then thought of creating a solution for all luxury lovers where they can shop more but also save money. That’s how the idea for ‘DuaVivo’ came about,” says Mehal, the 20-year-old co-founder and a student of Media Studies at Jain University. She adds, “The concept is already quite popular in the UK and USA and we were curious to see how it would work in India.”

So how do they guarantee the authenticity of the products? “At a time when one can easily be deceived with fake stuff, we conduct checks on the originality and quality of the product. There are strict rounds of authentication conducted by a team of experts and we provide a lifetime moneyback guarantee on every product along with an originality certificate,” details Mehal saying that the trust factor is very important. Absolute confidentiality, spa cleaning services, curation of products and brands and private viewing are some of the services they provide.

She says that they also felt that being present only online would not serve the purpose. “My father suggested opening a store. People can touch the products, explore a wide variety to choose from and have a face-to-face interaction with the team.” The response has been good so far and ‘DuaVivo’ wants to expand to other cities as Mehal puts it, “It’s all about recycling of luxury and making luxury affordable for all!”
