JOIN USProhibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, imposed in the city on September 12 after the Cauvery riots broke out, were withdrawn on Sunday midnight.
The prohibitory orders were extended till September 25 to maintain law and order.
A senior police officer said, “Section 144 will be withdrawn on Sunday midnight. But the state government has decided to continue the deployment of special forces till September 30. They are conducting regular route marches and the city police are patrolling the areas.”
Asked about the arrests in connection with the riots case, the officer said, “More than 900 people have been arrested. The identification process is continuing and more arrests will be made. Video footage obtained from various sources have helped us identify the rioters,” he added.
