Fake currency notes of Rs.2.48 crore recovered

Last Updated 13 March 2010, 07:33 IST

The fake notes and maps of Thailand were recovered from two bags Friday night from an AC coach of the Delhi-bound Purushottam Express at the Mugalsarai railway station in Chanduali, about 300 km from here, during a routine check.

“All the currency notes are of Rs.500 denomination and have dummy written on them. Actually, the notes are incompletely printed and carry watermark and symbol of the Reserve Bank of India," Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Tripurari Pandey told reporters.

“We have sought help from the Anti-Terrorist Squad, Reserve Bank of India and other agencies to probe into the case. All of us would be carrying out a joint enquiry along with the district police," he said.
