Each outfit in their collection brims with elegance and showcases an unconventional mix of different elements. Designers Pooja Solanki and Jayant Tripathi, from the label ‘Intri Printi’, incorporate contemporary silhouettes with structured and sharp tailoring. The sheer contrast of thoughts and motifs, which inspired them to create a look with clashing components like the shapes and patterns of geometry and the elegance of lace, resulted in their first collection called ‘Contrast’.

Explaining the collection, Pooja says, “We have juxtaposed two strikingly different elements to highlight the sense of contrast. Our outfits are for those who want to dress up bold and have a different choice for wedding and outdoor outfits. This collection concentrates on volume without weight and has an array of western silhouettes.” The colours that highlight this Autumn-Winter collection are basic and neutral hues like black and gold, black and white, wine, pink and purple. The collection also offers unique styles like sweatshirts with embroidery.

The duo has concentrated on being different when it comes to the wedding outfits, especially for destination weddings where the bride would want to pack light. It is a break from the traditional and conventional wedding couture. So, why the tongue twister name ‘lntri Printi’? “For starters, the name is a short form for intricate printing.

It was a conscious choice to choose a name that is difficult to pronounce as it will leave a recall value in the mind. Because once you get a tongue twister right, the name will stay with you for long,” explains Pooja.

Being a new entrant in the industry, she says the real challenge for a brand is to build a client base.  She plans to cater to a multi-designer store and also go online in the long run. Attending exhibitions and getting feedback directly from the crowd will be helpful for the label, she says.

She loves working with Dutchess satin and feels that neoprene is the most difficult fabric to work with. “I have always tried to take two different elements and fuse them together. In the new collection as well, we have used sensuous fabrics like lace and geometrical shapes, that can blend into a perfect evening wear,” says Pooja.

Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan are the two celebrities that she would like to dress up as she believes that they can carry off every outfit with elegance. As for her inspiration, she says there are many to name and that she has learnt something from each of them. “I look up to designer Suneet Varma, I have learnt a lot from him in my initial days. Anamika Khanna, Sabyasachi Mukherji and Manish Malhotra are the designers I get inspired from,” she says.
